You can't seem to find a suitable job, and the walls fall on top? Why don't you take matters into your own hands and become a light entrepreneur with the Truster light entrepreneur invoicing service? You're going to create your own job just like that without a business ID. Is that possible?
Yes! Activity pays off. It may even turn out to be the best decision you've made in the world of work. You may well become a light entrepreneur even when you are unemployed. When you do the right thing, light entrepreneurship doesn't affect your unemployment security, and you avoid any unpleasant surprises.
If I try light entrepreneurship, will I still receive unemployment benefit?
Usually, yes, at least somewhat. But do it smart! When you have registered as an unemployed job seeker at the TE Office, you can basically work as hard as you want as a light entrepreneur during the first four months of your entrepreneurship. The TE Office will not yet check whether you are a full-time or part-time light entrepreneur. At least the TE Office will not go out of its way to find out retrospectively. Kela or the unemployment fund may still report the amount of support according to your earnings.
The amount of work counts
After four months of being an unemployed job seeker, the TE Office will re-review your situation. As a light entrepreneur, do you work full-time or part-time? In general, light entrepreneurship is seen as part-time. At least some unemployment benefit will then be received. From the days when you don't work at all, of course you get the full benefit.
If the TE Office is of the opinion that your light entrepreneurship is full-time and that you cannot accept full-time work at the same time, you will no longer receive unemployment benefits.
Is it okay to do just one job?
Do it! A job of less than two weeks does not take up your unemployment security and does not need to be reported to the TE Office, whether the work is full-time, part-time or even 24/7. There may also be several assignments if they all last less than two weeks and are clearly separate.
The income you receive from light entrepreneurship must be reported, and this may affect your unemployment benefit. But it's hardly a problem when you get a nice payment from a meaningful job. Don't you think?
ABC of unemployment benefits
What were the unemployment benefits again? I'm sure you've heard of these, but let's go over it again.
When you are an unemployed job seeker, Kela will pay you basic daily allowance. If you belong to an unemployment fund, you will receive earnings-related daily allowance, which includes a part determined by salary in addition to the basic daily allowance. To get both, you must have been in employment for at least six months in the previous 28 months. If the employment condition is not met, you may still receive labour market support.
How does light entrepreneurship fit into the whole? If you hesitate, don't be left alone to think. We are happy to help and advise you. The local TE Office can also tell you what you should do in your situation.
If you find a dream job
You get excited about an open job, and you manage to get it? Or you get to study the field you dreamed of? That's great, congratulations! If, for one reason or another, you find that light entrepreneurship doesn't suit you or you have other plans, that's perfectly ok. You can put Truster's light entrepreneur service on hold at any time.
But don't forget about light entrepreneurship altogether! If you have an attractive gig or assignment, you can do it as a light entrepreneur alongside a day job or studies. Be sure to check that your tax rate is sufficient to cover all your income.
